Support Is Hard To Come By

I'm sure this is nothing new but I still feel it needs to be said: It's hard out here for a (word) pimp!

We had the literary reading in Washington, DC on Saturday, December 11, and although we tried to reach out to people to participate and support, we had a whopping THREE PEOPLE show up, and two of them already knew of our work. One could look on the bright side and say we were able to reach one new person, but who knows what she thought because she left right after and didn't stop to say 'hi' or 'thank you' or 'good job.'

It's enough to take the wind from our sails for good. But what good would that do? The show MUST go on, right? So instead of whining about what didn't work we're going to try and try again. DC- check for us in April because we'll be back!

Now let's take a moment to thank Dos Gringos Cafe for allowing us to use the space, and all of the people who made the night enjoyable despite the poor turnout: Jaded Empire Media's Marketing and Special Events Manager Marielys Garcia, poet Johnathan Tillman, and bloggers Super Dave VanBuren and Bella.

"You are appreciated."

That being said, please be on the lookout for more announcements from us regarding the New York City readings which have found a permanent home in Tribeca! We're definitely excited about that and are really looking forward to bringing you the best of the yet-to-be-known-and-published poets and writers of the Metropolitan area.

And last but not least, please help us congratulate our very own Rebeca Toledo on her first published piece, "Visiting Manuel" as seen in the December 2010 issue of Generacion L. ¡Felicidades!

xoxo,
La Pluma y La Tinta
